Music St George's has an excellent organist and Director of Music, assistant organist and choir of men, boys and girls, and a recently refurbished pipe organ.
The choir sings at services at 10.15am and 6.30pm on Sundays, and occasionally at funerals, weddings or other special services. From time to time they get involved in making CD recordings and take part in services broadcast on local radio. Rehearsals take place from 7.30pm to 9.00pm on Friday evenings.
New members are always welcome. There are ‘taster sessions’ for newer singers where they can learn about the role and purpose of the choir. They will also learn more about the Christian faith and the Bible. Everyone in the choir enjoys learning new music and singing techniques and there are opportunities to obtain National Awards recognised by schools and churches.
For further information, contact Tim Morris, the Director of Music on 01562 744333
Events St George's is well used for weddings. Baptisms (or Christenings) usually take place in the Family Service. Many funerals take place in St George's, particularly as the churchyard is in use for burials.
St George’s Annexe The Annexe next to the church is popular for parties and other events. For use of the Annexe please contact the Verger and caretaker, Mick Linegar on 01562 631647.
